The first ever Stallion Showcase GB run by the Light Family of the Brendon Stud was held at Addington Manor Bucks. on the weekend of the 5th and 6th Feb 2011, I was very excited when Archie was invited by Shirley Light to parade . We arrived early on the Sunday morning and made our way to Archie's stable, only to find ourselves stabled next to Samba Hit III and Carousel! who stand at the Touchwood Stud. These where the caliber of horse we would be parading with. 54 horses were present over the two days, with the Showjumpers on the saturday and Dressage horses on the Sunday. Needless to say 'Team Archie' were very nervous all except Archie himself he too busy eating his hay, at the thought of parading along side the 'Big and Famous Boys', but we need not have worried, everyone was so friendly and welcoming, the whole atmosphere was great. Archie ridden by Charlotte Currer rode into the Arena and proceeded to parade to a very attentive crowd, at the end they received a big cheer, I do not mind admitting it did bring a tear to my and the rest of the teams eyes. Archie was a star in the Arena and in his box when at one stage there were about 10 people in his stable with him, and he was still eating his hay. HorseDeals Magazine and Horse Breeders Magazine both did reports on the parade and Archie was one of a few stallions to get a review in both Articles, when you think the amount of lovely stallions that attended this makes me very proud of my Boy. Horse Deals wrote that Archie "stole the spectators Hearts" and Horse Breeders Magazine wrote "Archie has his own fan club from the sound of the cheering in the arena when he came in-and not suprising he is a gorgeous boy, with shedloads of presence, and a lovely type.

19th March 2011 Chiltern Equine Stallion Expo, the commentator Darren Blanchard said of Archie " This is probably one of the top Irish Draught Stallions in the Country" and Gill Battram wrote in the Chiltern Rider "There were so many stallions to die for including Avanti Amorous Archie RID that impressed Darren Blanchard from the Pferde Stud who was commenting along side Richard Waygood MBE "A lovely Stallion a real good type" he said.

Lucinda Young wrote the following after seeing Archie at the SSGB

I was fortunate to be able to attend the Stallion Showcase at Addington on Sunday February 6th 2011 and arrived in time to watch an excellent ridden display by Rita Jenings' Avanti Amorous Archie.

Archie looked terrific and he seemed unfazed by his surroundings and all the other stallions working around him. His diminutive rider Charlotte Currer, whom Archie apparently adores, sat still and tall as he swung along in all his paces, light on his feet, attentive and calmy doing what she asked of him. After the series of warmblood stallions that preceded him, you might have thought a full RID would seem very heavy in comparison but this was not so, as he appears to be so balanced in his way of going. He showed us a range of his lateral work and did his best lengthening too.

The Avanti team could be distinguished by their distinctive green jackets , big smiles and cheerful tears. Natalie Huttlova, who helped back Archie with Rita, has been at the stud for 10 years and did much of his successful showing. She still hunts and hacks him out and her smile on this occasion was one of the biggest!

At the end of the display (you can see it on YouTube) a cheer went up for this special stallion and there were plenty of spectators using their phones to film and photograph him. In his stable afterwards, he seemed quite happy to meet the people who came in to get a closer look and even run their hands over him, being a true RID, he was more interested in his hay net! Let's hope this interest will lead to more people using him on their mares, although with 40 foals due this year, he must be one of our most popular stallions.

Well done Archie and all his team of Ladies for a great display and for being an ambassador for our breed.

Archie’s temperament is, without doubt, the kindest and most honest you could find.

He is trained to a dummy mare so can be collected at anytime. Mare owners needing semen very early in the stud season pose no problem.
